What You Can and Cannot Put in a Dumpster
Most of what comes out of a house, a yard, or a job site can go straight into the container. A short list of items is regulated differently and has to be kept out, and sorting those before pickup keeps your job from being delayed.
Normally accepted
Household junk, furniture, mattresses, carpet, wood, drywall, siding, cabinets, fixtures, packaging, and general construction and demolition debris are all standard loads.
Yard debris such as branches, brush, leaves, and fence sections is also fine, and it is often best kept as its own load so it can be handled cleanly.
Keep out of the container
Liquid paint, solvents, fuel, oil, pesticides, asbestos, medical waste, and anything else classified as hazardous cannot go in. Neither can propane tanks, tires, or batteries.
Appliances containing refrigerant, and electronics in some cases, need to be handled separately. Ask before it goes in and we will tell you how to route it.
Heavy material needs its own load
Concrete, brick, block, asphalt, dirt, and stone are far heavier than they look and are usually kept in a dedicated container rather than mixed with general debris.
Separating heavy material also tends to lower the total cost, because a clean load of one material is simpler to dispose of.
When you are not sure, ask first
One wrong item can hold up an entire load. A quick phone call costs nothing and prevents a return trip or an extra charge.
